What do I do?

By  Omari Broussard

What do I do?

So, Jack walks into my office to say hi…

Right after we shake hands, he asked me, “Omari, what do you do?!”

He continues, “I know you helped me write some copy. And, I’ve sat in your workshop on marketing strategy. But, I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is you actually do…”

And then…

It happened.

The Trap…

My mind got caught in the trap.

My brain was running through the list of things I do. And, my mouth wants to say, “I’m a marketer.”

Fast forward 18 hours later…

I’m reading the book, “Da Vinci and the 40 answers — A Playbook for Creativity and Fresh Ideas”

Chapter 6 is titled View Point. The main idea of the chapter talks about how by taking a different view point on a problem, you will come up with more questions to help you look at the problem differently.

Let me give you some context…

The last 7 years

Over the last 7 years, I’ve started 6 companies (not all them are still around today), gained 2 business partners, achieved 3 college degrees (a Bachelors and 2 Masters), retired from the Navy after 21 years of service. I’ve been interviewed on radio, television, and podcasts. I’ve even wrote and self-published a book in 30 days. And much more…

If we look at my short time of being a marketer I’ve written email campaigns, built websites, run facebook and google ads, helped clients come up with authors, consulted on business operations, written direct mail packages, marketing automation, graphic design, hired and fired, designed marketing plans.

I’ve worked in various industries including: Fitness, health and wellness, personal defense, e-commerce, consumer services, real estate, IT, non-profit, security, and education.

I’ve taught marketing at workshops, events, universities and even got the chance to keynote an event for a major corporation.

With all that said…I’ve always struggled to answer the question, “What do I do?”

The Answer

But, fear not…

I believe I have an answer!

Here’s what I do…

“I help grow businesses by coming up with ideas, strategies, and execution plans to get more Customers…and keep them.”

The End.
